Iron - Natural element
Iron - blood buddy
Iron is an important component of hemoglobin, the substance in red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs to transport it throughout your body. Iron is a mineral found in every cell of the body. Iron is an essential mineral because it makes hemoglobin, part of blood cells. If you don't have enough iron, your body can't produce enough healthy oxygen-carrying red blood cells. A lack of red blood cells is called (iron deficiency) anemia.
Natural supply
Iron is plentiful in the following natural foods :
Need it
How much iron do you need? It all depends on age, gender and overall health. Babies and toddlers need more iron than adults because their bodies are growing quickly. This is why we have iron gummies for kids.
In childhood, boys and girls need the same amount, but during teen years, requirements increase, with girls needing more due to menstrual losses. Adult women need higher amount of iron daily, whereas men and non-menstruating women require less. During pregnancy, a woman’s blood volume increases significantly and iron requirements increase.
Iron supplements can be helpful for vegans and vegetarians who don’t consume meat or seafood, and others at risk for anemia, including people with poor nutrition diets.Grab a bunch of our pumpkin seeds.
